I am pleased to play music as much as I do. It is always an honor to put music in the air. I am so grateful for those who spend time listening, even if just for one song. One main reason I love to play music is the amazing players I get to share wavelengths with. Here is a brief list of awesome players you may see at the above gigs.
I am a member of the band The Following from LBI NJ. An original band who plays tasty covers of fun reggae, hip hop, rock and "get-down" music. We are a boutique band and super local, not leaving the 18 mile stretch of LBI unless we have to. been playing some really fun combos in area bars with the various friends/members Ryan Bott of drivingjersey.com ; Dan 'Dubbs' Sansig, Nick Miller, and Zak Bryant. original, B.L. born music!
www.jamesmerchant.com/music is on a trajectory rarely seen. insanely great musician who plays sax and if you ask nicely, the flute. bring a starbucks. We play together in LBI, NJ and Killington VT and have a blast! Catch him blowing minds whether at a beach bar or on Broadway. a fun guy to hang with for sure.
rambletree.net/pages/the-county-down Reagh Greenleaf and I are the first two members to make up the County Down. Playing Irish Pub Favorites and deeper cuts, folk tunes, Grateful Dead, sea shanties, rebel songs, reggae and more. We have a standing winter residency in Killington VT at www.odwyers.com/
you should definitely see one of these shows. what a room, what a crowd, shot-skis, pints, whiskey and great food!
In LBI mainly play with The Empaths who are made up of Ryan Hackett on bass guitar and space-ship altimeter, Jimmy Merchant listed above, John Hawes who plays drums (also with www.csnsongs.com/)
We play with a fella named Greg Jaeckel on drums at times too, who drinks gasoline and sips red wine; who also plays with the Jimmy Brogan Band and with Billy Walton which is pretty much legend-status
Alan Weber plays saxophone with us sometimes too. This guy can play the hell out of the saxophone(s), and flute, can sing ya songs, and can entertain you like the pro he is; i learn something, nay, MANY things when playing with this guy.
In Killington VT I also play with Aaron Normand (of The Idiots) on drums, and with Justin Burgess (of many bands) on Bass. we play a bunch of different stuff, including The Grateful Dead, James Brown, Ween, Phish, The Meters, Reggae, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Johnny Cash and many more...
I have been incredibly lucky to share stages with the undeniably talented singer-songwriter Sahara Moon. She is another rocket we get to watch take off into the stratosphere. you should definitely go see her perform.
Furthermore, check out Indigenous Entertainment in Killington VT. Andy Prior is slaying the scene right now Supplying the Demand with some great acts of cool people. I have had some of the best times playing tunes with this dude with his infectious energy, good vibes, and fun tunes. Danny Candido, i see you too brother, able to master any art, visual, audio or otherwise. These guys make VT proud.
